Phoenix Children's Hospital

Phoenix, AZ

It is estimated that by the year 2030 there will be more than 1.5 million children in the greater Phoenix area. In anticipation of the increased health-care needs this population growth will create, the Phoenix Children’s Hospital announced plans for a massive expansion of the famed central Phoenix campus.

In March of 2007, Kitchell was selected to manage the preconstruction services for this multi-year project and started construction in early 2008. The proposed expansion includes the demolition of several existing buildings along with the construction and renovation of other buildings and ancillary structures.

The project scope includes:
• 30,000 square foot central plant
• 1,750 parking spaces in 3 structures
• 775,00 square feet of ambulatory clinics and new hospital space
• 55,000-square-foot renovation of the outpatient facilities
• 125,000-square-foot renovation of existing hospital space

This project is expected to be completed in 2012.
