TOGETHER, BUILDING VALUE EVERY DAY.
Native American
To leave as positive an impact as possible on Native American communities. This is our principal goal when working in Indian Country. And this, in great part, means subcontracting to local trades. Our 90 percent Native American participation rate has been a win-win for all involved. We have partnered with Native American communities for more than 25 years and in 1999 – after becoming the first Arizona-based contractor to be awarded a casino vendor license – we formalized our commitment by creating a Native American Division. Every member of this group, because of personal experience, understands every Indian Nation is sovereign with unique cultures, languages, Tribal customs and laws. Our work in these communities includes hotels, casinos, office, industrial, land development, infrastructure, schools, and other community projects.

Giving Back Is Part of His Culture

As a proud member of the Navajo Nation, Jeff Begay is a model of success throughout the profession he discovered while a student at Arizona State University’s Del E. Webb School of Construction. Jeff organizes Kitchell’s very popular annual Native American Cultural Sensitivity seminars, where invited guests from various tribal communities speak about their history, culture and community. Jeff is known as someone whose desire to give back to communities he works in is infectious. While working on the construction of a school, Jeff organized a remodel and retrofit of a disabled veteran’s home in the community of Rough Rock, Ariz.

When he heard the veteran’s story of his struggles to live in his home, Jeff quickly mobilized his colleagues and the community to help. In 2011 Jeff was named ASU Outstanding Alumni of the Year and outstanding Native American ASU Alumni.
