"Our double-digit growth in alternative energy is testament to the problem-solving skills and vast resources in preconstruction, quality control and scheduling we bring to these highly complex projects."
--Susan Davenport, Project Director Alternative Energy
A growing number of entities are taking advantage of incentives, like the Business Energy Investment Tax Credit, to transfer to solar solutions. We are the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) provider of choice for municipalities (education and water projects, for example) and private clients throughout the country. Kitchell’s extensive experience in planning and constructing large-scale infrastructure projects and know-how to navigate the intricacies of federal and state regulatory agencies are a great benefit to solar energy providers.
Currently, Kitchell’s primary areas of focus in alternative energy are:
- Large solar farms (between five and 200 megawatts)
- Commercial and urban solar solutions, including photovoltaic installations on rooftops of existing buildings
Sam Kitchell was one of the first entrepreneurs in the United States to offer overall construction management services to client owners.

A Solar Power Purchase Agreement (SPPA) is a financial arrangement in which a third-party developer owns, operates, and maintains the photovoltaic (PV) system, and a host customer agrees to site the system on its roof or elsewhere on its property and purchases the system’s electric output from the solar services provider for a predetermined period.
- Large solar farms (between five and 200 megawatts)
- Commercial and urban solar solutions, including photovoltaic installations on rooftops of existing buildings
This financial arrangement allows the host customer to receive stable and sometimes lower cost electricity, while the solar services provider or another party acquires valuable financial benefits such as tax credits and income generated from the sale of electricity to the host customer.
