Kitchell built a 76,000 SF post-operative rehab facility for esteemed Phoenix-based orthopaedic surgeon Dr. David Ott and Veritas, his partner. With a Denver-based architect, Kitchell served as the liaison with the city and all agencies-having-jurisdiction.
Kitchell worked closely with the design team throughout the remaining design period to assist them in structural systems, skin materials, roofing, interior finish options and mechanical, plumbing, and electrical design options. We discussed different aspects of the project and assisted the designers with options and cost feedback to “what-if” scenarios on a weekly basis.
We performed BIM modeling for each floor including overhead and in-wall MEP and Fire Sprinkler systems. We also coordinated with the owner’s Low Voltage and Nurse Call vendors to incorporate their systems into our model. The electrician (Delta Diversified) pre-fabricated all of his overhead hangers and conduit racks based on the coordination models which made install quick and easy.
Kitchell Environmental Services (KES) provided stormwater prevention expertise. The success of this project paved the way for additional skilled nursing facilities utilizing the same design template.
