Kitchell was the construction manager/general contractor for this 346,535 SF new full-service, acute care hospital and shell space. The project is a five-story, 140-bed hospital with an adjoining medical office building. The hospital offers a variety of services including a pediatric intensive care and neonatal unit, a neurosurgery department, and a comprehensive open-heart surgery program. The project also includes shelled space for an additional 60 beds. Patient-focused design is the defining feature of the hospital, whose objective is to make each patient’s stay a positive experience. Soothing colors and high-end finishes give the hospital a non-institutional atmosphere that puts patients and visitors at ease. A curved five-story atrium admits light to surrounding areas on each of the hospital’s doors. The atrium serves as the central design element and main entrance. A healing garden, nestled against a natural stone wall, will provide relaxing spaces for patient rehabilitation.
