A $52 million project which includes the demolition of all existing structures (except kitchen/dining facility) and construction of a new camp of approximately 65,000 SF to accommodate 120 minors. The new camp will include intake; an administrative building; a support/school building which includes mental health administrative offices with approximately 2,000 SF of medical services, including medical exam rooms, telemedicine room and a nurse station; five individual cottages with 24 beds of open dormitory style housing; an ancillary gym building; a new kitchen/dining facility and various site improvements such as a recreational multipurpose field; surface parking; utilities and security fencing. Each of the five housing cottages include a mental health office and two counseling rooms. Also included is a complete educational wing (operated by LA County Office of Education) including classrooms, gymnasium, culinary arts classroom, vocational education yard, performing arts stage (indoor and outdoor), outdoor education courtyard, etc.); laundry and warehouse areas. This project is designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.
