This new tower expanded a facility originally built by Kitchell in 2000 and also includes a remodeling of existing spaces. The new tower adds more than 200,000 square feet, 56 new emergency bays and half a dozen new operating rooms. Central plant upgrades include 1700 BTU boiler, three 1,000-ton cooling tower, two 500-ton chillers, 1,500 kw generators, plate frame. Prefabrication of exterior skin panels shaved off two months of dry-in time, and prefabrication of 150 headwalls contributed to labor and time savings (work was done far ahead of traditional in-place construction) as well as safety (with work done offsite in a more controlled environment).
